Day center
A place you wanted to come to after school. It was warm here, you were expected here, you got help with homework and were listened to.
The day center was open through the week for school-age children. It was a stable space in unstable times: familiar faces, a clear schedule, warm food and adults nearby.
The project has ended, but its work lives on: the clubs, educational courses and individual support grew out of the day center's experience.
Stability
A steady schedule and familiar environment gave children something to hold on to.
Mentors
Adults who noticed, listened and walked alongside a child throughout the year.
Development
Activities, games and crafts that built skills and self-confidence.
Legacy
